Resumiz now has a dark theme

Press the moon in the menu bar to switch to the dark theme, and the sun to switch back. The choice is saved on the device you made it on and stays until you change it.

If you have not chosen, Resumiz follows your device setting. Under Settings, Appearance, you can pin light or dark, or hand the decision back to the device.

Every colour in the dark theme was measured for contrast on its own grounds, so the case file reads the same way at night as it does by day.

Text across the site is a step larger too: nothing is set below 13 pixels any more, and the match score dial is bolder with a label you can read without leaning in.

You can add Resumiz to your phone home screen

Resumiz now installs to your home screen. Open resumiz.com in Safari on an iPhone, tap the Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. Launch it from that icon and it opens full screen, with no address bar and no browser tabs, straight to your dashboard.

This is the website, running as an app. Everything is the same product you already use: the same account, the same tailorings, the same history. What changes is that it starts where you work instead of where you browse, and it stops competing with twenty other tabs.

It should have worked before this and did not, which is worth saying plainly. The page carried the modern instruction for standalone mode, and iOS reads an older one, so adding it to your home screen gave you a shortcut that opened in Safari anyway. Both are there now.

Six new guides on the blog, including what file format to send

Six new guides are up. The one most likely to save you an application is the file format piece, because it covers the two things that actually break a resume parser, and neither of them is the file extension. It is written from what our own ATS checker sees go wrong in real uploads.

The rest: how long a resume should be and where the famous six second scan figure actually comes from, how to explain an employment gap without hiding it, how to refresh a resume after years in one job, whether to include a photo, and what a general chatbot can and cannot be trusted to do with your history.

As with everything here, each one names its limits rather than quoting a confident number it cannot source.

A tailored resume can no longer carry contact details you did not give us

Resumiz exists to not invent things, so this one matters more than most. A review found that when a resume was submitted without an email address, the draft could come back with one that looked plausible but was not real. The honesty report called it a placeholder, but it still sat on the resume where contact information goes, and that is the worst place on the page for us to be wrong.

The cause was our own instructions to the model. They described the contact line as something every resume has, which left no honest option when a resume did not have one. Those instructions now say the opposite: write only what the source states, and if there is nothing, leave the line out.

An instruction is not a guarantee, so there is now a check as well. Every draft is compared against the resume you submitted, and any email or phone number that does not appear in your own text is removed before the draft reaches you. When that happens the honesty report lists exactly what was removed and the fabrication risk cannot be reported as none or low.

• Real contact details are kept, including a phone written in a different format.
• Dates and figures in your experience are untouched.

A new About page, with the real numbers behind "usually under a minute"

Resumiz asks you to trust that it will not make things up, and until now the site said nothing about who was asking. The new About page fixes that, and the part worth reading is the data. It publishes how long tailorings actually take, measured from real runs: the median, the mean, the ninetieth percentile and the slowest one recorded, with the number of runs that figure is based on stated plainly.

It also publishes a correction. An earlier internal note claimed an average that turned out to be the single fastest run ever recorded rather than an average at all. That is exactly the kind of mistake this product exists to catch on a resume, so it is on the page rather than quietly deleted.

The free ATS checker also grew a proper guide: how to use it, and a section listing what it cannot tell you. No checker can know how a particular employer has configured their system, and a tool that will not say so is asking you to take the rest on faith.

• The ATS checker is still free, still needs no account, and still stores nothing.

The sample on the home page now shows the interview prep, and every panel opens

The live sample on the home page runs a real tailoring on both plans so you can see what you get before you create an account. On Pro it listed a number of interview questions and drafts and then gave you no way to read any of them, because the saved result kept the count and discarded the content. That is the one Pro feature hardest to picture from a description, so it was the worst thing to leave as a number.

The sample now includes real questions and a real answer draft from that run, and says how many more the full report holds. The gaps, the changes and the interview prep each start short and open when you press them, and the summary tiles above are now buttons that jump to the evidence behind their number.

Nothing about the tailoring itself changed. The sample is still a real run of a fixed example on each plan separately, which is why the two sides of the toggle do not match.

Paid for Pro but still seeing Free? There is now a button for that

When you upgrade, Stripe tells us about it and your account flips to Pro within seconds. Almost always. Very occasionally that message does not arrive, and the result was the worst kind of bug: you had paid, your card showed the charge, and Resumiz still said Free. Every billing control we offer sits behind having Pro, so the one person who most needed help had the fewest options on the page.

Now the Free view of Settings carries a Check for my subscription button. It asks Stripe what it actually has on file for you, and if there is an active subscription there, your account is corrected on the spot and the page reloads as Pro. If Stripe has nothing, it says so plainly rather than pretending something is broken.

You should never need it. It is there for the minutes when you would otherwise have had to email us and wait.

• If it finds nothing, nothing changes and no support ticket is needed.

Your history is half as long to scroll

If you have tailored more than a handful of resumes, your history had become a problem. Every entry carried the same four rows of controls whether you needed them or not: the date, the job, a row of export buttons, and the full six-step application status rail. With thirty-nine tailorings that was around seventeen screens of scrolling, and almost all of it was the same furniture repeated rather than anything about your actual applications.

Each entry is two rows now. What stayed is what you scan for: when you tailored it, the job and company, your match score, and your current application status. Your status is a single pill you can read at a glance, and clicking it opens the same six options as before.

Nothing was taken away. The PDF and DOCX downloads moved into the menu at the right of each entry, alongside Tailor again, Copy link and Delete, and the whole entry is now clickable to open the full tailoring.

• Click your status pill to change it, same six options.
• Filters, search and sorting are unchanged.

Tell Resumiz what your resume left out, once, and every tailoring uses it

Resumiz will never write in a skill your resume does not show. That is the whole promise, and it stays. But sometimes the gap is not a real gap: you did the work, you just never put it on the page. Until now there was nothing you could do about that except rewrite your resume and paste it again.

Now there is. Open any tailoring in your History, go to its gaps, and if one of them is something you genuinely have done, say so in your own words. Your answer is saved exactly as you wrote it, with the date and the job that raised it. Every tailoring after that reads it beside whatever resume you paste, with the same standing as the resume itself. Nothing is added that your words do not support, and your saved resume is never edited behind your back.

• Every statement is dated, and each tailoring records exactly which ones it was given, so any claim resting on one can be traced back.

A redesigned Resumiz, and an honesty report you can check line by line

Resumiz looks different today. We rebuilt the site and the app from the ground up around one idea: a tailoring is a case, and you should be able to see the evidence for every part of it. Your tailored resume sits in the centre, set the way the download is set, with each part of the analysis on its own numbered tab beside it, so you get the answer before you open anything.

The honesty report changed the most. Instead of a paragraph, each new tailoring lists its findings, and every finding says how close it sits to what you actually wrote: stated in your resume, inferred from real work you described, left out because your resume did not say it, or a genuine gap. Each one carries the evidence from your own resume that backs it, so you can defend any line in an interview.

• Switch between your original resume and the tailored one in a single tap.
• Downloads are named like documents you would send, for example Your Name - Role.pdf and Your Name - Role - Cover Letter.pdf.

Framing notes: tell the tailoring how to position you

You know things about your own story that a job description cannot. Maybe you are mid career change and do not want your old field leading the page. Maybe you are still finishing a program and do not want the summary to open with it. Framing notes give you that steering wheel: a small optional field under the job description where you tell the tailoring how to position what is already true.

The no-fabrication guarantee is untouched. A framing note can adjust emphasis, ordering, and positioning of material already in your resume. It can never add a skill, a tool, a date, or a status your resume does not support, and it never removes a fact from the section where it belongs. If a note asks for something the honesty rules forbid, the rules win.

Meet Sherlock, the honest inference engine

Your resume proves more than it says. Someone who reviewed contractor claims to protect a budget has exercised negotiation and commercial judgment, even if those words appear nowhere on the page. Finding those skills honestly is the hardest problem in resume tailoring, and solving it is what Resumiz was built around. That engine now has a name: Sherlock.

Sherlock reads your resume the way a detective reads a case file. It sorts everything it finds into explicit matches, honestly inferred skills anchored to real evidence, and genuine gaps it refuses to fill. The rule it never breaks: if it cannot point to the evidence, it is a gap, not an inference. Sherlock has been doing this work inside every tailoring since day one; today it gets its name, and a page of its own.

An accessibility statement, and a way to report barriers

Resumiz should work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technologies. We published an accessibility statement that sets out the standard we build the site toward, WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and where we honestly stand today.

It also gives you a direct way to flag a problem. If any part of Resumiz is hard or impossible to use with your assistive technology, email support@resumiz.com and we will work with you to find a fix or a usable alternative.

Cleaner one-page resume exports

A tailored resume should be exactly as long as it needs to be. We tightened how the PDF and Word exports fit the page, so a resume that belongs on one page now stays on one page, even when it fills the sheet to the bottom.

Resumes with genuinely more to say still flow to a second page as before. The change only removes the near-empty extra page that could appear when a single trailing line was pushed past the bottom edge.

• One-page resumes no longer spill a single line onto a near-empty second page.

• Longer resumes that truly need two pages are unaffected.

Your session now signs out automatically

Your resume is personal. Starting today, if you leave Resumiz open and walk away, we sign you out after 30 minutes of inactivity. Signed-in sessions also expire after 7 days at most, even on a device you use every day.

Nothing about your account changes. Sign back in and everything is exactly where you left it. If you are still signed in on some old device somewhere, that session will quietly expire on its own.

Honest gap analysis on every plan, and one-click re-tailoring

Knowing what a job asks for that you do not have is the heart of honest tailoring. That analysis now comes with every plan, not just Pro: each free tailoring lists the required terms we found no evidence for, clearly marked as real gaps rather than things to invent.

Re-applying to a similar role is also faster. Tailor again in your History now reloads the full job description, title, and company onto the dashboard. With a saved default resume, the whole form arrives filled and you are one click from a fresh tailoring.

• Job descriptions: paste up to 20,000 characters, so long postings no longer get cut short.

Free limits apply per person, and a privacy note about how we keep them fair

Our free plan has always been one account per person. We made that clearer in the Terms: free limits apply per person, not per account, and creating extra accounts to get around them is not allowed.

To keep that fair without reading your resume content, our systems derive one-way, irreversible signals from submissions to spot when free limits are being worked around across multiple accounts. We never store the underlying details, these signals cannot be reversed, they expire automatically, and they are used only to enforce free limits. If a limit is ever applied to you by mistake, a human will review it. We added a plain-language description of this to the Privacy Policy.

• Terms: free limits are per person; duplicate accounts to dodge limits are not allowed.
• Privacy: abuse-prevention signals are one-way, never stored in raw form, auto-expiring, and reviewable by a human.
• What we collect has not changed, we still do not sell your data, and we never train AI on your resume content.

Change the email on your account

Switched email addresses, or signed up with the wrong one? You can now change the email on your account yourself, from Settings. We send a six-digit code to the new address to confirm you control it, and your old address gets a security notice once the change is made.

Nothing else moves. Your tailoring history, your plan, your remaining tailorings, and your saved resume all stay exactly where they are. Only the address you sign in with and receive mail at changes.

• If you sign in with a password, you confirm with that password first.
• Your history, plan, and usage carry over untouched.

A free ATS resume checker

Most employers run resumes through software, an applicant tracking system, before a person ever reads them. We built a free checker so you can see how cleanly yours reads, in seconds.

It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded or stored, and you do not need an account.

• Checks the parts you control: contact details, standard headings, bullet points, measurable results, length, and clean plain text.
• Add a job description to see which of its key terms already appear in your resume.
• No magic number. Every result is a plain, explainable check, because no tool can honestly promise how a given employer system will rank you.

Updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

We refreshed our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy so they are clearer and match how Resumiz works today. Here is what changed, in plain language.

• Resumiz is now clearly an adults-only service. You must be at least the age of majority where you live to use it.
• Creating an account, including with Google, now explicitly means you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.
• We strengthened the legal terms: clearer disclaimers, a clearer limit on liability, your responsibility to review and verify AI output before you rely on it, how third-party services and changes to the service are handled, and a step to raise any dispute with us directly first.
• We aligned the Privacy Policy with these terms. What we collect has not changed, we still do not sell your data, and we never train AI on your resume content.
